Dallas Kidlit Workshops & More!

April 19, 2019

Earlier this year, I taught my first online course with Writing Workshops Dallas—The World of Kidlit: Writing and Publishing Your MG/YA Novel. The class was an absolute blast to teach, and I'm excited to run it again this summer...offline, in Dallas!

This 8-week course covers everything: turning your idea into a solid plot, drafting and revising, and figuring out the next steps to publication. You'll have multiple opportunities to share your chapters and receive feedback from myself and other workshop members.

  • Class size limited to 8 writers

  • Meets Tuesdays 7:00PM to 9:00PM / June 4, 2019 to July 23, 2019

  • Class meets at The Drawing Board at 75 & Campbell: 1900 Jay Ell Dr / Richardson, TX / 75081

I'll also have bookmarks and other swag. (No catch! Nothing to purchase here, it's all free!) Hope to see you there!

Alison Cherry, Lindsay Ribar and I received a nice surprise this week when Bustle included The Pros of Cons on this awesome list: The Best Books About Fictional Fandoms, According to 7 Authors Who Write Them. As author Anna Priemaza put it, "sometimes finding others who share our passions is like, as Vanessa says, meeting my own people. But sometimes it's not. And that's okay."

Thank you so much, Anna! (FYI, her novel Kat & Meg Conquer the World sounds incredible. Check it out—I'm definitely going to!)
